Century Plyboards (I) Limited
may fairly claim to be the
pioneer in introducing "Firesafe"
- a fire-retardant plywood. "Firesafe"
is not just a fire-retardant
plywood but it also a leach
resistant, flame retardant
material. Besides being boiling
water resistant "Firesafe" also
resists fungi, insects and more
importantly pin hole borers.
The most unique feature of the
FIRESAFE is that it is non-leachable:
i.e. the fire retardant chemical
will not wash out with water or
moisture over a period or during
the fire fighting.

What makes it 'FIRESAFE"
Selected hardwood panels undergo
vacuum-cum-pressure impregnation
as per IS: 5509 of a special
chemical composition that helps
to form a protective char, in
case of fire. Since plywood is
an organic material it cannot be
absolutely fire-proof. "Firesafe"
however, resists immediate
ignition/burning, surface spread
of flame and flame penetration.
Consequently, the panels
maintain their structural
integrity for longer periods in
comparison with other building
materials.
Other additional features
۰
Unlike other brands of
fire-retardant plywood, "Firesafe"
is non-hygroscopic in nature.
Hence it does not corrode the
hardware elements like screws,
nails, etc. Besides it is
dimensionally stable under
adverse environment.
۰
It does not hinder overlaying /
lamination operations.
۰
Unlike other FR plywood,
Centuryply FIRE SAFE PLYWOOD can
be easily painted
۰
"Firesafe" can be machine-cut
and worked at with ordinary
carpentry tools.
۰
"Firesafe" is available in large
panels, saving the cost and time
of using joints while working
with it.
۰
Smoke generation of "Firesafe"
in flames is contained due to
its lower 'flammability', and
lower 'rate of burning'.
Hence "Firesafe"
is a fire-retardant plywood
panel with a difference.
Suggested end uses:
۰
It can be used both for interior
and exterior applications- for
room and wall linings, vehicle
bodies, exhibition stalls, in
boiler houses, auditoriums etc.
۰
Building : The ceiling of
rail coaches, subway cars and
buses, ship interiors, motorcar
and container construction, etc.
where resistance to flame spread & penetration is required
۰
Partitions paneling,
ceiling, cubicles, door in-fills
etc.
